70-Year-Old Pedestrian Dead in Accident on South Main Street [Yreka, CA]

Fatal Pedestrian Accident on South Main Street near Valero Gas Station in Yreka

 
YREKA, CA (February 4, 2021) – A 70-year-old Yreka resident died in a pedestrian accident on South Main Street, Thursday January 21.
 
According to the Yreka Police Department, the incident happened at about 6:20 p.m. The victim reportedly attempted to cross outside of a marked crosswalk. Then, a vehicle hit the pedestrian near the Valero gas station.
 
Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the name of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, identified as a 43-year-old Siskiyou County woman, remained and cooperated with investigators. As per reports, she did not sustain injuries.
 
Yreka police continue to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
