61-Year-Old David Surak Dead in Car Accident on Highway 20 in Lucerne

 
LUCERNE, CA (February 4, 2021) – Authorities identified 61-year-old David Leonard Surak of Williams as the man killed in a head-on crash on Highway 20, Wednesday January 13.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 4:36 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a Ford Focus crossed over the double yellow lines. After that, it collided head-on with a Ford Escape SUV near Diane Court.
 
Paramedics rushed the Ford Focus driver, Surak, to Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital in Clearlake. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead.
 
Meanwhile, a ground ambulance transported the Ford Escape driver and a passenger to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Authorities did not release the names of the Ford Escape occupants.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
