Yi Yan Dies in Rollover Crash on San Benito Avenue near Panoche Road

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (January 2, 2023) — Yi Yan died in a rollover accident on San Benito Avenue near Panoche Road Thursday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-car accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
 
For unknown reasons, a 20-year-old man from Davis, driving southbound in a Mercedes GCL 300, lost control of the car. As a result, the Mercedes veered off the road, overturned and ejected a 22-year-old UC Davis student from the vehicle.
 
Yi Yan, a 22-year-old international student from China, was not wearing a seatbelt. She died at the scene as confirmed by authorities.
 
Another passenger suffered major injuries and three people, including the driver, suffered unknown injuries.
 
At this time, officers do not believe alcohol played a factor. Although, if anyone has more information on this deadly crash, please call the CHP.
