Pedestrian Suffers Major Injuries after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Columbia Street in Little Italy
LITTLE ITALY, CA (April 15, 2023) – A woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Columbia Street in the Little Italy area Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. on April 13, according to the San Diego Police Department. The 32-year-old woman was walking westbound in the south crosswalk of 2000 Columbia Street. At the same time, the driver of a gray four-door Nissan Frontier pickup truck turned left from Hawthorne Street to Columbia, hitting the woman in the crosswalk.
The driver of the Nissan then fled the scene after the crash.
Responding paramedics rushed the woman to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses could only describe the driver as a male. No other suspect information was immediately available, besides the description of the vehicle.
The driver of the Nissan is wanted by police for felony hit-and-run.
