Woman on Bike Struck Dead by Train on Highway 132 in Stanislaus County

 
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (April 17, 2024) — A woman riding a bike was hit and killed by a train on Highway 132 near Modesto.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicycle accident happened around 10:00 p.m. Sunday. For unknown reasons, a 49-year-old woman from Modesto rode her bike around the crossing gate arms and into the path of an Amtrak passenger train. Subsequently, the oncoming train struck her.
 
Soon after, authorities and paramedics arrived at the scene and found her with fatal injuries. Due to the incident, CHP said the railway experienced some delays during the investigation. However, it is still unclear if drugs or alcohol factored into the cause.
