Two-Vehicle Accident on East Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard Kills 1 Driver and Badly Injures Passenger

 
OXNARD, CA (October 19, 2023) – A woman died in a two-vehicle accident at East Pleasant Valley Road and Laguna Road in Oxnard on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:20 p.m. on October 17. According to the Ventura County Fire Department, the 47-year-old Oxnard woman was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra sedan when she tried to make a left turn from Laguna onto Pleasant Valley. The Nissan then collided with a 2008 Jeep SUV heading northbound on Pleasant Valley.
 
Both vehicles ended up in a drainage ditch after the impact.
 
The woman was trapped in the Nissan and died at the scene. Her name has not yet been released.
 
A passenger in the Nissan, a 39-year-old Oxnard man, suffered major injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center in an unknown condition.

The driver of the Jeep, a 32-year-old Oxnard man, only sustained minor injuries. Officers determined he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The cause and factors of the crash remain under investigation. Authorities encouraged witnesses to call the CHP’s Ventura-area office during business hours to talk with a crash investigator at 805-662-2640.
