Early Morning Five-Vehicle Crash on 10 Freeway in Fontana Leaves 1 One

 
FONTANA, CA (August 10, 2023) – A woman died in a five-vehicle accident on 10 Freeway in Fontana early Tuesday morning on August 8.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:03 a.m. just east of Cypress Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 28-year-old Pomona woman was driving a 2010 Honda Civic westbound on the freeway.
 
For unknown reasons, the Civic began to swerve out of control and veered to the left. It then struck the center divider wall and came to a stop within the westbound traffic lanes.
 
A 23-year-old Los Angeles woman was driving a 2006 Honda Accord and approached the disabled Civic. Unable to avoid the crash, she struck into the right side of the Civic.
 
The impact of the crash caused a chain reaction. Multiple vehicles ended up hitting the Civic.
 
The woman driving the Civic suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of a Toyota Rav4, a 55-year-old Colton woman, was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana with minor injuries.

None of the other involved parties were injured.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
