Authorities Arrest DUI Hit-and-Run Suspect after Head-On Crash on Highway 78 in Ramona Killing 44-Year-Old Woman

 
RAMONA, CA (November 28, 2023) – A woman was killed in a DUI hit-and-run crash on Highway 78 in Ramona Saturday morning on November 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:30 a.m. near Weekend Villa Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was driving a Ford Edge westbound on the highway when an approaching Ford F-350 crossed into her lane and slammed head-on into her SUV.
 
The impact sent the SUV down an embankment. The woman died at the scene. She was a 44-year-old Ramona resident.
 
The driver of the Ford truck, a 26-year-old man, fled the scene after the crash. He was later located at his Ramona home and arrested on suspicion of DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter and hit and run.
 
Authorities are still investigating the crash. They asked anyone with further information to call Crime Stoppers at 619-235-8477.
