Pedestrian Dies in Long Beach Crash on Shoreline Drive

 
LONG BEACH, CA (October 16, 2023) – A woman was killed and six other people were injured in a traffic accident at Shoreline Drive and Aquarium Way in Long Beach on Saturday night.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 6:30 p.m. on October 14. According to the Long Beach Fire Department, a white vehicle going westbound on Shoreline Drive ran a red light and then swerve in an effort to avoid a car making a turn at the intersection.
 
As the driver swerved, they struck a woman pushing a child in a stroller and then into vehicles in the opposite lane.
 
The impact flung the woman about 20 to 30 feet across the road, knocking her unconscious. She died at the scene.
 
Firefighters transported at least six other people to local hospitals with unspecified injuries.
 
The factors involved in the crash are still under investigation.
