1 Dies in 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 65 in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 17, 2024) — A woman died in a 3-car accident on Highway 65 near Highway 155.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-vehicle collision happened on April 13 around 4:59 p.m. For reasons that demand further investigation, a Ford driver lost control and crossed into the northbound lane of Highway 65. Subsequently, the Ford broadsided a northbound Toyota at an unknown speed before hitting a Honda traveling behind the Toyota.

Shortly thereafter, firefighter-paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed one fatality — a 21-year-old Bakersfield woman sitting in the Toyota. The Kern County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s name. Meanwhile, paramedics tended to other passengers in the Toyota and Honda who sustained moderate to major injuries.

At this time, authorities are looking into whether DUI factored into the cause.
