Man Dead in Motorcycle Crash on 8 Freeway in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 30, 2024) — One person died in a motorcycle accident on the 8 Freeway near Rosecrans Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcycle crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. For an unknown reason, a man driving an eastbound black Yamaha Y2F690, motorcycle splitting lanes at an unknown speed, struck the back of a Ford F-150 stopped due to traffic. Subsequently, the motorcyclist flew off the bike and struck the rear of the truck. His 19-year-old female passenger was also ejected from the motorcycle onto the roadway.
 
Shortly after, emergency personnel arrived and transported the woman to UC San Diego Medical Center for major injuries. However, her male companion passed away at the scene. Officials have not released his name.
 
As for the 59-year-old Murrieta man driving the Ford, he stayed for the investigation, and police did not suspect impairment to have played a role on his part. However, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to identify if alcohol or drugs factored into the cause on the motorcyclist’s part.
