Elderly Woman Hospitalized after Fairmont Pedestrian Accident on Gateway Drive

 
FAIRMONT, CA (January 23, 2023) – An elderly woman sustained injuries in a pedestrian accident on Gateway Drive, early Thursday evening.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened on January 19, at about 5:43 p.m. The pedestrian reportedly attempted to cross outside of a marked crosswalk and against a red traffic light.
 
Then, a white 2019 Buick Enclave hit the pedestrian near the 4000 block of Home Avenue.
 
Emergency crews transported the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of serious fractures and other injuries. As per reports, the victim was a 70-to-80-year-old woman.
 
Meanwhile, the 51-year-old Buick driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
Responders ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the accident.
