Stephanie Ha and Another Woman Fatally Injured in Stolen SUV Crash on Florin Perkins Road near Florin Road

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 23, 2023) — 49-year Stephanie Ha, of Sacramento, and another woman died in a stolen SUV crash on Thursday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old suspect carjacked a woman by knifepoint.
 
Officers said the suspect drove at high speeds around 10:15 a.m. on Florin Perkins Road near Florin Road. Then he ran a red light and crashed into a Nissan Leaf. The collision pushed the carjacker’s SUV and the Nissan into a white van waiting in the turn lane.
 
Ha and another 43-year-old woman, also from Sacramento, died on impact of the incident. Ha’s family made a GoFundMe to help with her funeral expenses.
 
The driver of the van, a Las Vegas resident, did not sustain any injuries.
 
The suspect is still in the hospital with minor injuries. Once he is medically cleared, officials will book him into the Sacramento County Jail. He now faces several charges such as felony DUI causing death, felony hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
