70-Year-Old Man Dead after Pedestrian Accident on Market Street near 805 Freeway

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 23, 2023) — A man suffered fatal injuries a pedestrian crash on Market Street on Friday, January 20.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, just before 7:45 p.m., a 23-year-old woman drove her white 2016 Honda Civic westbound on 4200 Market Street. At the same time, a 70-year-old walked across Market Street in the Mt. Hope neighborhood.
 
Officials said the elderly man crossed mid-block from south to north. Then he walked into the path of the Honda and was struck.
 
Paramedics rushed the man to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. SDPD has not yet released his identity at this time, pending notification of his loved ones.
