Woman Struck by Semi-Truck on Capitol Expressway in San Jose Dies

 
SAN JOSE, CA (June 27, 2022) — A woman hit by a semi-truck died on Capitol Expressway at Monterey Road on Thursday afternoon.
 
According to the San Jose police, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 1:45 p.m. For unknown reasons, the woman tried to cross in a marked crosswalk against a red traffic signal.
 
Subsequently, a 2018 International truck pulling a trailer began turning left onto Capitol Expressway from Monterey Road on a green light and struck the woman.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead. Authorities have not released her name pending notification of family members.
 
After the accident, the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police during the investigation. At this time, officers do not believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
