Police Arrest DUI Driver after Crash in Laguna Hills Injuring Three People

 
LAGUNA HILLS, CA (March 18, 2024) – William Ryan Martensen was arrested in a DUI crash in Laguna Hills Wednesday night on March 13.
 
The crash happened around 6:00 p.m. at Paseo De Valencia and Los Alisos Boulevard. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, 15-year-old Alexya Garcia, 16-year-old Nathalie Berrelleza and her mother were heading from home after a game at Laguna Hills High School prior to the crash.
 
Martensen, 39, was driving the wrong way on a divided highway when he lost control. He then struck the median and collided head-on into the victims’ car.
 
As a result of the crash, Garcia, Berrelleza and her mother all suffered serious injuries. Garcia is in the ICU in critical condition.
 
Loved ones created a GoFundMe page for Garcia’s medical care and legal fees to pay for an attorney to seek justice on her behalf.

Authorities arrested Martensen on multiple charges including felony DUI at $1 million bail.

Martensen did not enter a plea at his arraignment Friday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. He is scheduled to be arraigned March 29 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
