Fatal Gardena Accident on 405 Freeway, Walter Romero Identified

 
GARDENA, CA (October 5, 2021) – One person died in an accident on 405 Freeway in Gardena early Friday morning.
 
The victim is identified as 36-years-old San Pedro resident Walter Romero, according to the coroner’s office.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on October 1 in the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway near Western Avenue. CHP officials did not provide details of how the crash occurred, but they confirmed one fatality – Romero – as a result of the accident.
 
Crews issued a SigAlert in the area, closing the carpool and two freeway lanes for two hours while they cleared the wreckage.
 
At this time, the California Highway Patrol is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
