Police Arrest Stolen Car Driver after DUI Crash in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (April 23, 2024) – Vanessa Sanchez was arrested in a DUI crash in Fresno Monday afternoon on April 22.
 
Around 12:30 p.m., Clovis police responded to a report of a former Walmart employee who was causing a disturbance inside the Walmart on Shave Avenue.
 
Sanchez, who was identified as the suspect, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
 
When officers arrived, Sanchez got into a stolen Kia Niro leading officers into a chase. She then ended up crashing into two police patrol vehicles at Cedar and Barstow avenues. She also crashed into a parked car at First and Nees avenues.
 
After the crash, Sanchez fled the scene on foot. However, police caught her quickly and took her into custody.
 
As officers searched the stolen Kia Niro, they located keys to two other Kias that had been attempted to be stolen.

Sanchez sustained minor injuries and treated at a local hospital. She will be booked into Fresno County Jail. She faces several charges including assault with a deadly weapon, evading, DUI, hit and run, stealing 3 cars, and attempting to steal 2 others.

An investigation is underway.
