KEARNY MESA, CA (June 10, 2023) – Two women were injured after a pedestrian accident on Lightwave Avenue in Kearny Mesa Wednesday afternoon on June 7.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 35-year-old was driving a white 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross in the eastbound left lane. At that same time, a 48-year-old woman crossed at 9300 Lightwave Avenue outside a marked crosswalk.
 
The pedestrian reportedly walked in a southerly direction and stopped on the raised center median. The Toyota then struck the pedestrian around 3:14 p.m.
 
As a result, the pedestrian complained of pain to neck and back. The driver of the Toyota suffered major head trauma and is considered to be in critical condition.
 
Drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
