Car Hits 2 Pedestrians Crossing on Gilman Drive in La Jolla Seriously Injuring Them

 
LA JOLLA, CA (October 3, 2023) – Two women were hospitalized in a pedestrian accident on Gilman Drive in La Jolla Friday morning on September 29.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 44-year-old was driving a red 2017 Toyota south of Gilman Drive when two female pedestrians walked from the west curb of Gilman Avenue and stepped in front of the car.
 
The Toyota then struck the victims around 8:24 p.m.
 
As a result, one of the women suffered a fractured pelvis and a brain bleed. The second pedestrian sustained injuries to her left leg and complained of pain in her back. Both were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
Officers said the victims were 73 and 49 years old.
 
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
