Two Men Removing Tree Suffer Major Injuries after Hit by Car on Highway 116 in Sebastopol

 
SEBASTOPOL, CA (October 15, 2021) – Two men suffered serious injuries in a pedestrian accident on Highway 116 on Tuesday, September 12.
 
The accident happened just after 7:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Highway 116. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 61-year-old Sonoma man and a 56-year-old Sebastopol man were removing a large tree from property along the highway. The tree fell into the road and blocked both lanes in a dark area with no street lights.
 
Meanwhile, a 70-year-old man from Sebastopol was driving a Mercedes-Benz westbound. He slammed on his brakes to try to avoid the men, but unsuccessful.
 
As a result of the crash, the two men both suffered major injuries. Paramedics took them to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
 
Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
