Car Catches Fire after Crashing into Big Rig on Eaton Road in Chico Killing 2

 
CHICO, CA (April 14, 2023) – Two men died after a fiery accident on Eaton Road in Chico early Thursday morning on April 11.
 
The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection with Esplanade. According to the Chico Police Department, a sports car was heading northbound on Esplanade when it slammed into a big rig that was hauling logs and turning left onto Eaton Road.
 
The impact split the car into two pieces. It burst into flames at the Chevron gas station. The burning debris went skidding across the gas station on the northeast corner of the intersection. A tire rolled up to the front door of the market. Debris was scattered on the road and near the gas pumps.
 
One man died at the scene and another man died at the hospital. They were not yet identified.
 
The driver of the big rig did not sustain any injuries.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved are still under investigation.
