Two Killed, Bianca Lopez Arrested in DUI Accident on 101 Freeway [Sherman Oaks, CA]

Multi-Vehicle Accident on 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Kills 2 Including 15-Year-Old Boy, DUI Suspected

 
SHERMAN OAKS, CA (April 26, 2021) – Two people died and Bianca Lopez was arrested after a DUI multi-vehicle accident Saturday, April 24.
 
The accident happened just after midnight on 101 Freeway near Van Nuys Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 20-year-old woman was driving a 2008 Honda eastbound on the freeway when she rear-ended a box truck. The impact caused both vehicles to lose control and crash into the center divider wall of the freeway.
 
The box truck then entered the westbound lanes and was struck by an oncoming 2017 Honda. A 2016 Dodge, also in the westbound lanes, was struck by concrete debris caused by the destruction of the center divider wall.
 
The collisions caused significant intrusion to the passenger compartment of the box truck, killing the two passengers.
 
A 40-year-old woman died at the scene, while a 15-year-old boy later died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. They were residents of Santa Maria.
 
The driver of the 2017 Honda, a 49-year-old Reseda woman, suffered major injuries. The 37-year-old woman driving the 2016 Dodge escaped injury.
 
Meanwhile, Lopez sustained moderate injuries. Police later arrested her on suspicion of DUI.
 
The crash is under investigation.
