Multi-Vehicle Accident on Fairmount Avenue in Kensington Area Injures 3 People

 
KENSINGTON, CA (April 12, 2022) – Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Fairmount Avenue in San Diego’s Kensington neighborhood, late Wednesday evening.
 
The accident happened just after 10:00 p.m. on April 6. According to the San Diego Police Department, a 31-year-old man was driving north in the 4800 block of Fairmount Avenue when he started to merge into another northbound lane as his lane was ending. When that happened, he hit the rear corner of a second vehicle, which caused the other driver to lose control.
 
As a result, the second vehicle went over the center median into the southbound lanes, where it was hit by a 57-year-old female driver. The first vehicle also hit a large construction truck parked on the curb.
 
Paramedics arrived and found the 32-year-old driver of the second vehicle with serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis, lacerated liver and kidney.
 
A front-seat passenger in the second vehicle, identified as a 65-year-old man, had a fractured sternum. The driver of the first vehicle complained of pain.
 
No further details were available at this time. DUI was not believed to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
