18-Year-Old Pioneer Man Dies in Fiery Accident on Shake Ridge Road
AMADOR COUNTY, CA (August 3, 2021) – A teen driver died in a fiery accident on Shakeridge Road near Pioneer.
The accident happened on Monday, August 2 just west of Evergreen Way. According to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was driving a Chevrolet eastbound on Shake Ridge Road at a high rate of speed, while evading a sheriff’s vehicle, displaying lights and siren.
The teen then allowed the Chevrolet to leave the roadway and entered the soft dirt shoulder. At the same time, a Toyota was heading westbound on Shake Ridge Road approaching the Chevrolet.
The driver of the Toyota observed the Chevrolet re-enter the roadway and proceed into the westbound lane, directly into the path of his car. He veered to the left to avoid a head-on collision. As the Chevrolet continued out of control, unknown debris flew from the car and struck the Toyota. The Chevrolet subsequently collided into a tree and caught fire.
As a result, the driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene. Authorities only described him as an 18-year-old Pioneer resident.
Neither the ACSO Deputy nor the Toyota driver sustained injuries in the crash.
This fatal crash remains under investigation.
We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
