Multi-Vehicle Accident Involving Big Rig on 105 Freeway in South Gate

SOUTH GATE, CA (August 4, 2021) – Several lanes were closed following a big rig accident on 105 Freeway, early Tuesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 27 at about 1:30 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a big rig collided with several vehicles near the area of 105 Freeway and Paramount Boulevard.

The accident left the big rig jack-knifed on the freeway embankment, blocking several lanes of westbound 105 Freeway.

CHP initially issued a SigAlert for the westbound No. 2, 3, and 4 lanes. But responders later canceled it at 4:00 a.m. and reopened all lanes.

CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.

When driving larger vehicles, watch your speed and scan the road for possible hazards. Stay in your lane and drive defensively at all times. Also, make sure to perform regular maintenance and do proactive repairs to avoid accidents.
