Taylor Brard Killed in Car Accident near Sand Highway 22 [Oceano Dunes, CA]

Off-Road Vehicle Crashes at Oceano Dunes Killing the Driver and Injuring the Passenger

 
OCEANO DUNES, CA (February 29, 2024) – Taylor Brard was killed in a car accident at the Oceano Dunes Sunday afternoon on February 25.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:00 p.m. near Sand Highway 22 at the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. According to reports, Brard was driving a recreational off-highway vehicle when he crashed.
 
State Park rangers found the side-by-side at the bottom of a large bowl with visible damage to the roll cage. Bystanders were performing CPR on Brard.
 
Rangers took over life-saving measure attempts until CAL FIRE crews arrived.
 
Sadly, Brard did not survive and died at the scene. He was a 31-year-old Atascadero resident.
 
A passenger in the vehicle was airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
