Pedestrian Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I Street in Eureka

 
EUREKA, CA (May 24, 2024) — A 66-year-old pedestrian hit by a car in a multi-car accident on I Street near 7th Street died.
 
According to the Eureka Police Department, the fatal multi-car crash happened on May 22 around 1:45 p.m. For unknown reasons, a driver heading northbound on I Street struck a 66-year-old pedestrian in the road. Subsequently, the vehicle continued north and struck several cars near 7th Street before hitting a building.
 
Shortly after, Humboldt Bay Fire Personnel arrived at the scene to find bystanders rendering life-saving efforts on the gravely injured pedestrian. However, the victim passed away from severe injuries. Officials did not release his name.
 
In addition, one driver required extrication from his or her vehicle, and several people from the other cars were taken to a hospital for care.
