CORNING, CA (December 26, 2022) — Rohit Rekhi was run over and killed by a moving truck at the Lt. John C. Helmick Rest Area near the 5 Freeway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident happened Christmas Eve around 2:11 p.m. For unknown reasons, 27-year-old Rekhi reportedly exited a 2017 Kenworth truck driven by 30-year-old Sukhraj Aulkh. As a result, the truck’s right tire ran over the Woodland man as it moved at 5 miles per hour.
 
According to investigators, the incident occurred as Aulkh tried to park the vehicle.
 
Rekhi passed away from his injuries. At this time, CHP investigators have ruled out DUIs as a possible explanation for the incident. Although, if any witnesses would like to help the CHP, please call their department.
