DUI Accident Kills Anila Afzili and Rasul Afzili, Injures Two Children

 
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (March 3, 2021) – A couple was killed Monday evening around 11:30 p.m. after a DUI accident on Jefferson Boulevard in West Sacramento.
 
On February 15, police say two vehicles collided in the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Locks Drive.
 
According to West Sacramento police, a motorist collided head-on into a second car carrying a family of four.
 
A mother and father who had their two children in the vehicle with them died from their injuries. Police have not released their identities. However, a family relative who started a GoFundMe page identified them as Rasul Afzili and Anila Afzili.
 
According to the family relative, one of the children – a 3-year-old Jannah – remains hospitalized. However, the other child – a 7-month-old Azaan – was treated and released.
 
The other driver sustained serious injuries and was also hospitalized. Police said that driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.
 
An investigation is ongoing.
