On-Duty San Diego Police Officer Suffers Major Injuries after Hit by SUV on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach

 
PACIFIC BEACH, CA (June 16, 2023) – An on-duty San Diego Police officer was hospitalized in a motorcycle accident at Garnet Avenue and Kendall Street in the Pacific Beach neighborhood on Thursday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 3:35 p.m. on June 15. According to the San Diego Police Department, the officer was on duty on his motorcycle when he was rear-ended by a Ford SUV.
 
When emergency units arrived, the officer was conscious and breathing. He was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.
 
No other injuries have been reported.
 
It is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol was a factor. The crash is still under investigation.
