PALM DESERT, CA (August 2, 2021) — One person was killed in a crash with a pole on Highway 111 near Palm Desert Drive Saturday.

According to officials, the fatal solo-car accident happened around 1:26 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver crashed into a pole, which subsequently sparked a fire.

Shortly after, the Riverside County Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the flames. As a result, authorities confirmed one fatality. However, the crash remains under investigation.
