Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on First Street in Santa Ana

 
SANTA ANA, CA (February 23, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash at First Street and Figueroa Street in Santa Ana early Monday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:20 a.m. on February 20. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the man was in the eastbound lanes of First Street and a vehicle that was also traveling east struck him.
 
After striking the man, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
 
Personnel from the Orange County Fire Authority responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. They withheld the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
 
Detectives later located the vehicle parked at a residence and took the driver into custody. Police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.
