Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on 15 Freeway in Halloran Springs

 
HALLORAN SPRINGS, CA (November 12, 2023) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on 15 Freeway in Halloran Springs Friday evening on November 10.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:49 p.m. just after the Halloran Springs Road exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Dodge Caravan was speeding and went to pass a vehicle and a semi tractor trailer on the right shoulder.
 
When the Caravan passed the semi on the right shoulder, it struck the pedestrian that was walking along the northbound freeway.
 
After striking the pedestrian, the driver sped away and did not stop.
 
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
A witness saw the hit and run and called the CHP dispatch. Miles up the freeway, the CHP stopped the Caravan that had major front-end damage from the crash.

It is unclear if the hit-and-run driver was arrested. Further investigation is underway.
