Early Morning Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway in Chula Vista Ends in Fatality

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (November 13, 2023) – One person was killed in a rollover accident on 5 Freeway in Chula Vista early Saturday morning on November 11.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:02 a.m. at E Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black SUV was speeding along the northbound freeway when it lost control and crashed into the right shoulder. It then overturned multiple times.
 
Witnesses told officers that multiple vehicles were involved in the crash.
 
Responding paramedics pronounced at least one person dead at the scene. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office withheld the victim’s identity at this time.
 
A pole holding an electrical box was knocked down in the crash, leaving wires exposed.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
