Man Struck, Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver on 710 Freeway at Anaheim Street in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (September 21, 2021) – A male pedestrian lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on 710 Freeway, early Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 20, at about 5:30 a.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle hit the pedestrian on the southbound lanes of 710 Freeway at Anaheim Street.
 
A passerby noticed the downed pedestrian on the freeway and immediately reported the incident to the police.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area. Investigators believe that more than one vehicle hit the victim.
 
Responders closed all southbound lanes to make way for an investigation. As per reports, all lanes were reopened shortly before noon.
