Woman Dies in Highway 99 Pedestrian Accident in Chico

 
CHICO, CA (October 16, 2023) — A pedestrian hit by a car on Highway 99 near Cohasset Road died Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly accident happened around 10:20 a.m. Friday. For an unknown reason, a woman leaped off the Cohasset Road overcrossing onto Highway 99. Subsequently, a southbound brown Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 51-year-old woman, struck the female pedestrian in the No. 1 lane.
 
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
 
Following the crash, Chico police officers conducted an investigation and closed the area, redirecting commuters around the scene.
