Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash in Thousand Oaks

 
THOUSAND OAKS, CA (December 11, 2023) — A pedestrian in Thousand Oaks lost their life in a hit-and-run near Janss Road and Windsor Drive.
 
The incident happened early Saturday morning. Reports on the crash came in at about 6 a.m. according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Callers reported an individual disturbing cars in the area near Janss Road and Windsor Drive.
 
Witnesses said the person was running in the roadway and attempting to open the doors of vehicles traveling in the area. The individual was also reportedly trying to open the door of a truck and jumping into and out of the bed of a moving car.
 
Upon arrival, deputies found the unresponsive pedestrian on a sidewalk north of the intersection. Based on reports, the person died at the scene. The investigators are examining evidence suggesting that a westbound vehicle on Janss Road struck the pedestrian. The vehicle fled the scene and turned northbound on Montgomery Road.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities have not released the identity of the pedestrian. They are also urging anyone with information about the incident to contact detectives at (805) 947-8289.
