Pedestrian Killed in Amtrak Train Accident near Lookout Park

 
SUMMERLAND, CA (March 17, 2021) — A female pedestrian died in an Amtrak train accident near Lookout Park on Tuesday, March 16.
 
According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, the accident involved a northbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner at around 1:30 p.m.
 
Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection Battalion Chief Mike Gallagher said that the victim, described to be mid-to-late-30s, died at the scene. Her identity was not yet available pending notification of her loved ones.
 
Witnesses stated that the woman ran across the tracks into the path of the train.
 
Amtrak said that the train stopped in Santa Barbara instead of continuing on its normal schedule.
 
There are no other details of the crash immediately available.
