Hit-and-Run Crash near Old Olive Highway in Oroville Leaves 1 Driver with Major Injuries

 
OROVILLE, CA (March 24, 2023) – One person was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash near Old Olive Highway and Forbestown Road in Oroville on Monday night.
 
The crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. on March 20. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2005 Saturn Ion was traveling west on Forbestown Road at high speeds. At the same time, a white 1990 Dodge truck was heading east on Forbestown Road in the same area.
 
The driver of the Saturn crossed the double yellow lines. The driver of the truck tried to swerve to avoid the crash but the front end of the Saturn crashed into the front of the Dodge.
 
The impact caused the Dodge to overturn several times before landing on its roof on the south shoulder.
 
After the crash, the driver of the Saturn fled the scene on foot before officers could arrive but said they detained the passenger.
 
Paramedics pulled the driver of the Dodge out of the vehicle and rushed them to the hospital with major injuries.
 
At this time, officers are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect. They urged anyone with information to contact the CHP Oroville office at 530-538-2700.
