Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 138 in Hesperia Leaves 1 Driver Dead

 
HESPERIA, CA (January 9, 2022) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 138 in Hesperia on Friday morning.
 
The accident happened around 8:43 a.m. on January 7 near Summit Post Office Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a beige Honda and a white Kia Optima collided for unknown reasons. The impact caused the Honda to overturn on its side, while the Kia sustained major damage in a turnout shoulder along the westbound lanes of the highway.
 
When first responders arrived, they found the driver inside the overturned Honda with fatal injuries. They pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver of the Kia to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
Both directions of Highway 138 remained open during the investigation since the vehicles were not blocking traffic.
 
At this time, the identity of the deceased was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
The exact cause of the accident and factors involved remain under investigation.
