Early Morning Traffic Accident on 405 Freeway in Gardena Ends in Fatality

GARDENA, CA (October 4, 2021) – One person was killed in a traffic accident on 405 Freeway in Gardena early Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on October 1, in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Western Avenue. CHP officials did not provide details of how the crash occurred, but they confirmed one fatality as a result of the accident.
 
The name, age and hometown of the victim were not immediately available.
 
Crews issued a SigAlert in the area, closing the carpool and two freeway lanes for two hours while they cleared the wreckage.
 
At this time, the California Highway Patrol is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
