Accident Involving United States Forest Service Vehicle on Highway 38 in San Bernardino Mountains Leaves One Person Dead

 
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA (March 10, 2024) – One person died and several other people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 38 in the San Bernardino Mountains on Saturday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:48 p.m. on March 9, just near Forest Falls. According to the San Bernardino National Forest public affairs, a Mill Creek Station fire vehicle carrying nine firefighters collided with two civilian vehicles in unclear circumstances.
 
The firefighters serve in the Front Country Ranger district and are known as hotshots.
 
When crews arrived on the scene, one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames.
 
One person in the civilian vehicle was pronounced dead. Several other people were injured in the crash.
 
Paramedics took at least two victims to a hospital with major injuries.
 
At this time, it is still unknown what caused the deadly crash. An investigation is ongoing.
