Pedestrian Dies after Struck by At Least 7 Vehicles on 101 Freeway in Oxnard

 
OXNARD, CA (March 10, 2024) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 101 Freeway in Oxnard Friday evening on March 8.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:15 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway, just south of Vineyard Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian tried to get across all freeway lanes, from the center divider to the east shoulder.
 
A 2003 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, driven by a 19-year-old Ventura man, initially struck the pedestrian.
 
While the pedestrian was on the ground, at least six or more vehicles also hit him.
 
First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
Offices said none of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. All of them remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. No arrests were made.

It is unknown if the pedestrian was under the influence of any substances. Further investigation is underway.
