Fatal Semi Truck Crash at Nees and Fairfax Avenues

 
FIREBAUGH, CA (August 22, 2021) – One person was killed in a semi truck accident at Nees Avenue and Fairfax Avenue Friday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. on August 20, near Firebaugh. According to the California Highway Patrol, a car and the semi truck collided at the intersection for unknown reasons. The impact sent the car into a nearby canal.
 
Bystanders tried to rescue the person in the car, but were unable to pull the victim out.
 
Officers arrived soon after and pronounced one person dead at the scene. They will release the identity of the deceased once it is confirmed and family members are notified.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
