Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Taft Highway in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 14, 2021) – One person died in a pedestrian accident on Taft Highway (119) in Bakersfield Tuesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:36 a.m. on July 13, at Erro Ranch Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Chevrolet Avalanche hit the pedestrian while walking in the area. The impact caused significant injuries on the pedestrian.
 
Paramedics arrived and performed life-saving aid, but the pedestrian died at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
CHP officials did not indicate if the involved driver has stayed or fled after the crash.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was factor. The fatality remains under investigation.
