Late Evening Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 in Chico Turns Deadly

 
CHICO, CA (May 31, 2023) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in South Chico late Monday evening on May 29.
 
The fatal accident happened just before midnight at Southgate Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking in the southbound lanes when a car struck them.
 
When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from fatal injuries. They pronounced them dead at the scene.
 
The victim’s name was not immediately released pending next of kin notification.
 
At this time, the circumstances of the fatality remain under investigation.
