Silver Lake Restaurateur Dies after Struck by Vehicle in Echo Park
ECHO PARK, CA (May 31, 2023) – Maria Esther Valdivia was fatally struck by a vehicle in the Echo Park area Monday afternoon last week on May 22.
The fatal crash happened around 1:45 p.m. on Scott Avenue at Glendale Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Valdivia was walking in a crosswalk when a 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320 that was heading westbound on Scott Avenue and turning onto Glendale Boulevard struck her.
Responding paramedics rushed Valdivia to a hospital, where she died three days later.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. They did not display any impairment.
Valdivia was 74 years old from Los Angeles. She was the co-founder and owner of the Silver Lake restaurant Tacos Delta. She is survived by her husband Sergio, four children, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
