1 Dead in Pedestrian Crash on Sepulveda Boulevard in Van Nuys

 
VAN NUYS, CA (April 29, 2024) — One person died in a pedestrian accident on Sepulveda Boulevard near Bassett Street.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 2:05 p.m. Friday. For reasons that require further investigation, a driver pulling out of a parking space outside a building struck two pedestrians walking in the parking lot. Subsequently, the vehicle kept moving, dragging one victim onto the street before stopping.
 
Soon after, Los Angeles Police officers responded to the scene and confirmed two people hit in the accident. One person died at the crash site while the other remains hospitalized and is expected to survive.
 
During the investigation, police learned that the driver had an object lodged between the gas pedal and the floorboard, causing her to lose control of the car.
