Multi-Vehicle Crash on 80 Freeway in Richmond Kills 1 Driver

 
RICHMOND, CA (January 29, 2023) – One person died in a multi-vehicle accident on 80 Freeway in Richmond late Wednesday evening.
 
The accident happened shortly after 10:25 p.m. on January 25, just west of the Richmond Parkway off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Mercedes-Benz was traveling at an unsafe speed when it rear-ended a Honda in the eastbound lanes and overturned.
 
After the initial crash, the driver of the Mercedes wound up in the westbound lanes where he was struck by a Nissan. He died at the scene.
 
The Contra Costa Sheriff”s Office Coroner’s Bureau withheld the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.
